ST. ANNE’S GUILD

St. Anne’s is an active group of women who are culturally and spiritually minded.  Meetings are held on the 4th Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m., September through May.  A program is presented at each meeting.  We look forward to keeping this heritage of service alive for years to come.  We welcome all women to help us towards this goal.

ADULT BIBLE STUDY

The Bible study group meets the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month at the home of one of the members.

EPISCOPAL YOUTH COMMUNITY

The EYC is made up of youth in grades 6 to 12 that meet Sunday nights at 6:30 p.m. for fellowship and sharing.  They do a variety of activities such as bowling and playing pool as well as discussing relevant issues.  Participation in local and diocesan youth events play an important role in the youth community.

CHIME MASTERS

The Guild is responsible for ringing the Troy-built, hand-played Meneely bells in the Christ Church bell tower for Sunday morning services, special religious services and for weddings and funerals.

CHANCEL CHOIR

The adult choir sings at the 10:00 a.m. Sunday services, at special services throughout the year and participates in other district and diocesan events, September to June.  The choir rehearses Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings as needed.  Choir master Bill Snyder and organist Roberta Steflik direct the choir.

CHERUB & JUNIOR CHOIRS

The youth choirs sing once a month on Youth Sunday.  Practice takes place after 10:00 a.m. Sunday services under the direction of Susan MacLennan, September to June.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

Christ Church participates in this national organization which builds new homes or renovates existing homes to provide decent, affordable housing to low income families.  A wide range of skills is needed and volunteers have the opportunity to work  on these projects in many capacities.

CHOW PANTRY

The CHOW Pantry provides essential food items to needy local families.  CHOW is a local food distribution program sponsored by the Broome County Council of Churches.  Volunteers at the Christ Church pantry coordinate the collection of contributions and help with the distribution of food to the needy six times a month at Christ Church.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS AND EUCHARISTIC VISITORS

Eucharistic Ministers act as Readers during Church services and administer
the chalice during communion. Eucharistic Visitors carry the Eucharist to those unable to attend church services. Eucharistic Ministers participate in a Sunday Service about once a month and may participate in other services if they are available to do so.

ST. VINCENT’S GUILD

This guild is devoted to training parishioners of all ages to serve during communion and other services.  Acolytes provide essential support during the preparation of communion and are key elements of the service.  They carry the torches and crosses that are part of every 10:00 a.m. Sunday service.  Acolytes are also occasionally asked to be part of weddings, funerals and other special services.

OUTREACH COMMITTEE

The Outreach Committee works to extend the ministries of Christ Church into the community.  Activities can include Lenten folder collections, supporting and/or contributing to Habitat for Humanity, Council of churches & our own CHOW food pantry.

ST. MARGARET’S GUILD

The members of St. Margaret’s Guild maintain and care for the altar  and prepare for communion services on Sundays, weekdays, holy days, weddings and funerals.  Four members a month sign up to clean the Sanctuary, polish brass and silver, wash the marble and iron the linens.

ST. ANDY’S GUILD

St. Andy’s meets on the same night as St. Anne’s, which is the 4th Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. September through May. The men in the group do repair and maintenance jobs in the church and parish house.  Twice a year, at Christmastime and early June the two groups get together for a supper at the church.

ST. FIACRE’S GUILD

St. Fiacre’s Guild is a gardening guild devoted to the beautification and maintenance of the church grounds.  They meet weeknights from Spring-Fall.  The members have a variety of experience with gardening, some are genuine green thumbs and some are just plain good weed pullers.  We welcome anyone who likes to be outside digging in the dirt.

PRAYER CHAIN

Our Prayer chain is used by parishoners, their families and friends from the community.  We have many requests forprayers that give solace and comfort in troubled times, but happily there are also prayers of thanksgiving when prayers have been answered.
